Khazna's Bio
It is easy to see that Khazna dances from the bottom of her heart,
a visual picture of the music. Entertaining audiences from ages 3 to 103, with a classy authentic show, in any venue from nightclub to a Girl Scout meeting and everything in between.
After studying with The Habibi Dancers of Michigan, she began performing weekly in the night clubs and restaurants of her hometown outside of Detroit before moving to Chicago. She has been training, and performing Raks Sharqi for over 20 years. Graduating college with a dance arts degree in classical and modern dance, a B.A. in Museum Science and minor in Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Additionally, Khazna has enjoyed the privilege of performing, and studying dance in Morocco, Egypt, Dubia, and Thailand. Local performance venues include The Sears Tower Plaza, Chicago Summer Dance Festival, Dance Chicago Festival, and The First Chicago Arabesque Festival at Daily Plaza.
Khazna is capable of performing a diversity of styles including: Turkish, Egyptian, Tunisian, and Gulf. She has been known to use props such as: double canes, sword, tray, Shamadan, bar glasses, and sigat (finger cymbals) in various rhythms.
She enjoys collaborating with other artists when the opportunity arises.
Her show is guaranteed to captivate, inspire and represent Levant culture at its finest.
